to write;
"...I come into the peace of wild things
who do not tax their lives with forethought
of grief. I come into the presence of still water.
And I feel above me the day-blind stars
waiting for their light. For a time
I rest in the grace of the world, and am free."

and the cow jumped over the mun.

scmun day 3!

yup so avery wasn't around, leaving us to all die of boredom. chair resorted several times to calling on us by country just so someone would speak up! mona and hannah complaining to us later = epic fail :P

yeah, so...france and i were veryveryvery against clause 3 and we were up against jean and the uk on it. like back-forth speeches on no-it's-useless and yes-we-need-it! france and i took to briefly confirming each other's stances in several rapid notes.

motion to divide the question by the uk.

unmod caucuses scattered between, but no agreement because each caucus was like 3 minutes (blame the chairs!)...so when a vote was finally called, actually it was nearly a tie, but the for folk won.

not that it mattered to us opponents, cos got france to veto it (she was more than happy to, hahah) :x
uk immediately wanted to veto france's veto...chairs were bemused (i tell you our council is damn good at trying to get around decisions) and there was a pause.

france & jean brought up compromise.
so another unmod caucus where uk quickly gave in to france's+my demands. and japan also had their say, but by then chief subbers were so desperate to pass it that there was no need for more debate.

chair called us to order.
france and i wanted to retract her earlier veto, but chairs said we had to submit a completely new reso after rejecting the current.
and so we unanimously shot down that reso and uk submitted the new one.

we found out that printing in scgs takes really long, so while we were waiting for the copies to come, chair wouldn't leave us alone.

and therefore india went on this campaign to stall.
bringing up visions of rats with cameras on their heads, and "would the animals of the journalists be protected too?!". ...but she was serious. picture that.

me: "uhhhm, point of information -laughs- can i just clarify that the delegate of india has just proposed -stutter- attaching cameras onto the heads of rats and -collapses onto table- sending them behind -splutter- enemy lines?"

yeah so we burst out laughing... especially me, but as tricia can attest to, i have these fits of amusement that i can't control. though i wasn't under so much pressure to stop myself because the chair was laughing too as she told me that "laughing is not in order". :P the power of entertainment is universal.

anyway so erm because the council was in desperate need of stalling, me jean china uk france etc all took turns going up to speak on, uh...rats in danger.

i had so much trouble keeping a straight face. especially when canxiang went up and smirked at us (we speak with backs to the chair so they can't see if you grin up there) while maintaining a calm voice. gosh i was just dying (:

me improv-ing a speech to declare myself as "a staunch supporter of animal rights" who is "appalled over the delegate of uk's suggestion!" etc. etc. ad nauseam all about the ethical controversies. even managed to discuss china's proposal of robots too XD

more speeches agreeing with my points (:
and anyway. the chair suddenly stopped us and was like, "delegates, why are we talking about rats and dogs and robots in war?" (wanqi is obviously smarter than i thought!)
so there was a sudden dead silence.

so decided to utilise drama training (YES drama has practical use! ah see!) and crap up some tale on how "oh, this delegate would like to point out that since we are discussing protection of journalists in wartime, we are just toying with several alternatives to human correspondents. like animals?"

"the chair apologises."

i was quite stunned that she actually believed that...:x
props to me from several people :) am honoured!
thank goodness mona wasn't there though, she'd have seen through that in a heartbeat.

so yes, some more speeches before resos finally arrived fresh off the printing press.

quickly passed the reso :)
we were all so enthu. japan was like, "can we move into voting?" chair: "no, sorry delegates, we have to wait till time elapses for speeches for and against." japan: "awww..."

but yeah, as soon as we could we voted and it was unanimous :D
see how efficient we are!

okay, then the chairs gave in and let us play council bonding. yay!
we were playing ten-cent coin and then murderer :)

skipped superlatives cos...well, our council was very disinterested and there was only 1 guy so it was awkward. very awkward. ah well superlatives are useless anyway (: council bonding ftw!

lunch.
brief swing with jeanette etc before bombing games between councils...sc was a complete flop. we gathered late and weren't very enthu, though victoria wanted to nuke 'em all! ;)

yup. back to council for a bit before summit.

okay summit was so boring. nobody had anything to say. we just cosubbed with usa/france/usual allies and that was it. india got pissy on us when we sought clarification...though the stupid reso (which was inadequate and thus necessitated a whole summit on nuclear proliferation in ldcs -rolls eyes-) was annoyingly useless.

yeah. no reso was passed before we had to end for s&l.

and then started half an hour of interdelegation boredom. and we all felt so bad cos the pair from indonesia were totally disengaged, but they were quite left out lah. trying to get them involved was a failure :/
performance over. all very halfhearted lah, though usa's was predictably funny (acsi mah!)

closing ceremony.
gosh took so long. but grats to avery cos he naturally got best delegate :)

and then released for d&d prep!

ROK FTW.
all of us (except alyssa) bunched up and smartly found the sports complex toilet. so empty and so clean and so quiet. peaceful fun changing and all (: mutual loaning of brushes, lotions, folk helping eldora with her dress, reassuring each other...think all of us were very happy with the atmosphere ♥ delegation bonding rocks.

so yeah. wandering around in our little group before we got to the lt and dumped our bags. dispersed to talk to various groups, though eldora and hannah and i were just hanging around :)
talked a while with the ac folk too, they helped us take pics etc. yup, peace.

whole russian delegation upped and went. how sad, but looking back, yeah don't think you all would have enjoyed yourself very much o:

only allowed into the hall at 8.
first reaction: WOAH. second reaction: food!
stuck together as a delegation for dinner (it was awesome, so this is where all the funding went!) before we broke into a pair + trio for the second d :)
though gen and i were running around in the smoke for a while too XD

and hm. yeah. really impressed. they rented huge speakers, smoke machines, fancy lighting, strobe lights...the works. oh, and i was telling jeanette and charlotte (who were both very amused ;)) there were even pillows and sheets behind curtains in the shadows.

-gasp- there were 2 pillows per sheet! -wriggles eyebrows-
yeah, so we were wondering...well, whether they were trying to encourage, um, events? ;D

anyway, dance wasn't really dance 'cept for the christmas island people, who were really getting it on O_O some random dude was also rather, er, brave, solo-ing then dancing one-to-one with an australian girl ;)
he was really not bad man! like seriously dancing.

some dude in a freaky mask was also successfully replicating the phantom of the opera solo, as originally performed by jose tirado. (wow and i can't believe i recognised it!)

yeah, a good atmosphere. so conducive to dancing that the mc had to keep reminding people to "please go eat the food instead!" :)

aww, really touched cos hannah and eldora were looking out for me the whole time :)
also quite interesting when 5 of us conquered a sheet and rested there for a while before getting up together. lol, and took off our shoes too!

but then all the councils started to gather ): boo! yes wanqi is right sc is seriously not very enthu about ourselves, probably cos we're soo teeny in comparison! still, we did gather in a circle and talk a bit :D

at some point wanyee came up to hannah & mona when i was talking to them and said she wanted to go home. so i decided to leave with her, cos she was really poor thing, sec 1 and so lost during all our council sessions, then she was so desperate to leave though so brave to even turn up for d&d!

so yup, that was that. though poor mona had to stay behind in the lt to guard everybody else's stuff after opening the door for us.

gosh and i'm leaving out so much but honestly it's nearly 11 now and i wanted to scrapbook...): boo.
oh well.
these last few weeks i haven't really been in the mood to blog properly; do pardon me ):
