to write;
"...I come into the peace of wild things
who do not tax their lives with forethought
of grief. I come into the presence of still water.
And I feel above me the day-blind stars
waiting for their light. For a time
I rest in the grace of the world, and am free."

-The Peace of Wild Things; Wendell Berry

and just when you thought that

scmun day 2!

today was the reverse of yesterday.

avery, cheryl, china-dude and i were getting to know one another in the morning.
can't remember what songs he was letting me listen to, but his taste is very anti-mainstream, except when it comes to K-pop.

he's very into music, though he can't play any instruments at all ._. cheryl and i were quite surprised.
ooh and cheryl is a twilight fangirl! zomg, hahah, we kept teasing her and she eventually reached into her bag. we were joking that she was gonna take out a knife, but it was worse! - she drew out a tissue packet with robert pattinson on it! i wasn't sure whether to be amused or appalled, goodness :P jean & avery were disturbed to say the least.
okay, thankfully we started off with secondary issue because the chairs gave up on forcing each country to speak up on the primary, and we'd passed a reso on it already anyway.

me, jean and avery had to smoke our openers again cos we didn't prepare any speech XD

a lot of roundabout arguments, got quite confused at parts and avery had tuned out so i couldn't help him collate either. especially when cheryl started on about japanese whaling/dolphin-hunting (which wasn't related cos it was civilian killing of journalists, though eventually i got irked enough to go up and say that it wasn't relevant).

but avery kept me awake man! haha, cos in the morning he was declaring his target of quoting 10 song lyrics in his arguments today, and every single one was so ridiculously fitting!
gosh, like,

"Israel proposes that...that's ridiculous! To quote Katharine McPhee, I'm Terrified!"
or "The US supports sending two bodyguards for each journalist because...(insert sudden look of happiness here) TWO IS BETTER THAN ONE!"
and the finale, "should any delegates object, it would be good to raise your issues now and propose amendments. if you do so later, the council will take it very seriously, because then it'll be Too Late to Apologise!"

WAHLAU eh he makes it seem so easy, says it isn't hard at all O_o
major props.

haha, damn fast lah he, gosh. so impressed O: and he kept making hand signals whenever he hit another lyric, so keeping us on the alert whenever he went up xD

ah, but as a democracy i was very relaxed. as in seriously, it's nearly impossible to win a debate with a debator, so it was good that i agreed with all his views. so we were bouncing points back and forth in our bunch of notes.

he said to help him pass the uk-russia reso tmr; hope it'll be possible without him to go up and slam down the opponents xD

china-dude was in major slack mode today, he kept being called up by the chairs for not talking and all.
and cheryl is too sian of reso-writing to be more active, but she speaks as much as she usually does lah.

lunch was madness! hahaha, jeanette and i were clueless re how to do geog (huh how can yield be lesser than production? whut?!), so in the end we just went to go onto the swing. hopped on just before kayal & friend did, so we share-share and chit-chatted :)

we were all getting nauseous after a while, so left to go and do stupid things. like i suggested we go sit in the middle of the quadrangle, so we did that for a while before kayal proposed we move to the middle of the amphitheatre. there we were squatting and staring in mock fascination at a floor tile (of course laughing idiotically) to see how much attention we could attract XD some njc people joined us for a while as well!

yeah, a lot of stares and some folk even stopped to look at the tile too, mission accomplished! :D
we shot down kayal's crazy crazier idea to start stalking random people around and pretend we were secret agents exaggeratedly ^^

then dprk (sji dude) called kayal & friend over, leaving jeanette and i to wander for a while before returning to the mg table.

anyway, yeah, it was loads funnier than it sounds :) i'm just too tired to go into more detail.

walking around a little with gen before heading back to council.
okay, resumed...sorta.

everybody was really sleepy after lunch, so we were playing random games as a council, so fun :D
but soon pushed into resuming debate, no one really had anything to say/was interested, so chair had to call on each of us one by one... ... yawn.

okay, so then uk-russia started writing a new reso, since india-china were unwilling. US and i just whiled away the time supporting them by addressing various concerns by other countries and stuff.

had to adjourn debate for crisis assembly.

okay rok didn't speak very much, but ah well had nothing to say and the speaker's list was really really long so no point because by the time it's your turn like 3 others would already have mentioned your points.

ended up being the one to go up to make our opening speech. considering the fact that i wrote it in like 4 minutes, it was quite crappy but ah well reasonably decent since our delegation didn't discuss at all.

didn't speak until reso-support time.

in the end despite all the notes passed, US reso failed 10-13. that was reasonable since it was a very rushed reso, but can't believe that countries were dissing it despite not thinking. skyblue delegation in particular hadn't thought out their decision and simply voted against when pushed by the chair. wth!

i can't stand people who decide without thinking. pmo and what a waste of effort.
PLUS i was quite irked because Japan rejected it. dudes your reso only has one clause extra but other than that it's exactly the same as the US'! and that clause is illogical and implausible because of each country's limitations, what on earth! just cos you have a separate reso doesn't mean you have to reject all others.

since assembly completely ran out of time, crisis was left 100% unresolved. would have been dragged on but the campus needed to shut down.

so yeah. that's about it.
honestly speaking, i'm somehow feeling very unruffled. like, i thought i would be utterly angry+frustrated should the reso fail, and it did...but it seems like i've overestimated my temper, because i just feel very heck-careish about it.

maybe i'm just tired.

anyhow i should start on geog now. my paper is really crumpled and torn after all its transport today.
sorry mrs lim.
